National Geographic Trails Illustrated Explorer Colorado 14ers Topograhical Map CD-ROM (Windows or Mac) Shopper Reviews

This is now out of photograph and not supported by the publisher, National Geographic has cancelled all consumer mapping software products. Loads of of the problems additional reviewers mention are doubtless the reasons behind the discontinuation. It would have required a major update to the software and map data to meet the ordinary present smartphone Google Earth users guess. This was subdue a great manufactured goods at the first fee as you deliberate you are getting three different sets of maps and how much vicinity they cover. Tricky copies of the Trails Illustrated maps lonely would be over $50.
- Crazy Ian

Grave bit of software. Pushchair, tricky to use. And everywhere are the trails? I can't discover them, and evidently the before assessor couldn't any. Don't buy, you'll be disappointed.
- Peter W. Kent

I bought this CD ROM thinking I would be getting National Geographic Trails Illustrated maps translated on 1:24,000 maps. This is not the explanation. What you actually get is the constant trails illustrated maps as the printed versions (1:40,000), at that calculate as you try to zoom in on them - all the trails expire and you are gone with the standard USGS maps with no trails except what are on the USGS maps. Worse yet, there is no GPX data for any of the TI trails, so you can't send them to your GPS contrivance. I estimate you be inflicted with to draw your own trails, tracing over the TI trail? But again, if you zoom in, at that calculate all the TI trails expire. There are approximately good things in this area this manufactured goods, like the fact with the intention of you get TI maps at all. But thats in this area it. I would rather just buy the waterproof printed copies.

TOPO! Weekend Explorer 3D Outdoor Recreation Mapping Software (Las Vegas Area) Recent Review

TOPO! Weekend Explorer 3D Outdoor Recreation Mapping Software (Las Vegas Area) Recent ReviewThis software is great! I've used it for 5 trips now right through the Las Vegas area. Frequently out at Red Rocks, Lake Mead and Valley of Fire. As soon as Mt. Charleston thaws out, that will be the next destination.Facial appearance I like:1.Manifold views from broad all-function overviews of southern Nevada to vastly fussy 7.5 USGS spec maps that I can actually plan a trip with.2. Transferring waypoints to and from my GPS.3. Route building skill allows me to machinate and plot routes.4. Routes are leisurely by distance and profile grade. I can see if a route I planned is too steep or not down to a percentage of a grade.5. Photo/Note tool allows me to story my travels on the software and save the maps for later reference.6. Print/Export capabilities allow me to print out the part of the maps I want for my trips and allows me to save them as JPEGS to send to fellow hikers. Also can send projected hiking itineraries to friends in case of an urgent circumstances.7. You can download the CD map content to your hard drive so you don't need the disk every time you use the software.Facial appearance I don't like:1. Some of the maps used by the USGS for this area haven't been simplified since 1982, so the water level almost Lake Mead is not true. It makes trip schooling out there more trying since you everlastingly end up in the drink on the map.2. The route building tool is a modest tricky to get the hang of. They must have made this tool easier to use.3. Anytime you chat options on the 3D portion of the map, you have to top off that map; it just doesn't update on the fly.
