Oscars 2014: Idina Menzel Rocks 'Let It Go' After John Travolta Mangles Name

Her name might have been flubbed in her introduction, but Idina Menzel had no problem "letting it go" for her Oscars performance Sunday night.

The singer and actress scored a lead-in at the ceremony from John Travolta, who introduced her as something along the lines of "Adele Dazeem." But once the opening piano lines of "Let It Go," the emotional centerpiece of Disney's Academy Award-winning "Frozen," set in, Menzel was all business.

The Broadway-inclined Menzel tore through the tune, curtailed for time in that it was without its second verse. Unlike "Let It Go"'s Oscar-nominated counterpart "Happy," which featured Pharrell with a plethora of backup dancers, Menzel performed alone, rooted to her spot on the stage as she belted the song's uplifting notes, a slight hint of a gritty rasp creeping in her higher register.

Moments later, the song scored a win for best song, beating out Pharrell's "Happy," Karen O's "The Moon Song" and U2's "Ordinary Love." Songwriting team/husband-and-wife duo Kristin Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez were onhand to accept.

"Frozen," whose soundtrack has topped the Billboard 200 for five weeks -- the best-performing soundtrack since "Titanic" -- also took home a win in the category of best animated feature.
