DeLorme Street Atlas USA 2010 Plus [OLD VERSION] Customer Reviews

This is a very useful mapping curriculum. The software uses layers to draw on. There are tools to add streets to the existing pattern as well as colored lines . You can also create or use existing descriptions to "drop" on the map and label these. I found the "Print" process is tiresome to chat to the size map you want. The pattern for my area is outdated and when I checked with the companionship I was told that, "since of the remote location" (Hawaii) there were no plans to bring up to date.Be set to spend some time discovering the facial appearance as the curriculum is not very intuitive. The "Help" in the curriculum is useful and you can print out the instructions. All in all, I'm pleased with my hold and look forward to learning more of it's facial appearance.Amazon was very efficient in filling my order and delivering this product. Well pleased!

the software loaded fine and it detected my internal gps ( viliv x70 ) without a problem just made sure the baud rates matched . it is a little more complicated than other software or gps units i have tried but i think once you get used to it it will be fine , the voice commands work as they should , the one problem i have and i think its big is that at least one of the towns near me is incorrect being that i know the town near me is not correct can i really trust that there are not other problems like this ( poi's are also effected by this problem)away from my area .according to what i have read you can send this info to delorme . they did respond quickly to a e-mail about a general question.

I've used Delorme harvest for being and consider it the most excellent map software here is. Be inflicted with pinched my total cultivate and Platte maps on it.

I enjoyed using prior versions of this software, but the 2010 update falls short. In this "new and stuck-up version" you are mandatory to use Advanced File Management, which earnings you should initiation magnet layer files for all use which is fair if you call for to do including the intention of. Older versions (as water supply as the non-Clear version) permit you to use in cooperation Advanced and Simplified File Management; this one release lets you use Advanced which is absurd. Customer service was not caring in rectifying my come forth, I will be using a additional companionship's harvest from now on.

Having used Microsoft Streets since its first relief, I was loath to even try a additional product. I was grossly flawed. The learning curve (for me) was a slight bit slower than the old traditional "Streets", but now that I have been using DeLorme Road Atlas for a link of months, I have deleted "Streets" and use DeLorme exclusively. There are many extremely important tools (including a road level phone directory) and the routing options are far more wide-ranging than persons establish in Streets. I urge this product to all persons (for myself included) who are directionally challenged!

After using DeLorme back in the ahead of schedule 90s, I went to MS Streets & Trips for several being. Having liked Delorme, I went back after reading their review of Street Atlas 2010 Clear. It is the worst mapping system I be inflicted including ever seen. It is not only complicated, as I irrevocably figure it out, I ordinarily find that the cartography is so outdated that it wasn't worth my while. I spent $60 on this cut of poor software, but I am now vacant to buy the MS Streets & Trips again. I've learned my lesson. Buyer beware.

I upgraded my imitation of Street Atlas because DeLorme told me my old version was incompatible with Windows 7. I uninstalled my old version and installed the 2010 version. It twisted made known with the intention of I had to yield this software administrative privileges to even load, and it does so quite at a snail's pace. I followed DeLorme's advice to do a complete uninstall, at that time twisted off all processes via MSCONFIG, including anti-virus and disabling the UAC, and did a sterile installation. The software still requires official privileges to even finish loading and does so very at a snail's pace*. Further, if you move the Initiation Menu icons to where you want them, Street Atlas will rebuild them in a prominent vicinity of the Initiation Menu. While the program itself is very nice, I could abandon the software with this version due to the initiation up issues. Too bad as I have been a loyal DeLorme consumer for well ended a decade.*Win7 Pro 64bit with a dual-core processor, 4GB of RAM and a big, fast hard guide. No excuse for this.

DeLorme makes good mapping software. It works well for me as I need to map several addresses and see them in a 2-d spectacle, like looking at a map on a table, and then I can route for myself effectively. I can then start my bluetooth GPS, still compatible (money saver) from an older version of DeLorme (2007) mapping software, see for myself in relation to the locations I am mapping and then drive the most effective route reduction time and money. A normal in car GPS like a Garmin doesn't give me the flexability to see all of the locations at once in view of the fact that of the small screen size. With Delorme I have not only a full function GPS, but map software and all of this is just one part of my full function laptop. It is not the same as a fixed GPS but DeLorme has gotten closer with the newer 3-d option that gives you a typical GPS view and a lot of that functionality. I personally prefer the flexibility of the DeLorme product to a dyed-in-the-wool GPS, and if you need to map multiple locations to plan your day (like a sales or delivery route) you will too!

Overall a good program, save for has one serious flaw (for an RV driver) in that it does not distinguish dirt roads starting paved roads. While driving a 38' motorhome towing a car, I got 20 miles out on a 2 lane paved road that suddenly twisted into a small dirt road lacking any notification. Since I didn't want to continue on a dirt road and there was no place generous sufficient for a u-curve, I had to unhook the car and jockey the motorhome to get it twisted around. This wasted an hour of our time as water supply as fuel which resulted in a lot of unnecessary frustration.Pros: Good features and positively user forthcoming. In malevolence of the cons planned not more than, I would recommend the program.Cons: Not distinguishing between the types of roads; some maps are not up to appointment (as water supply as mis-labeled.) Also, the POI's for non-urban areas are lacking (renowned restaurants, gas stations, campgrounds are not planned). (My Garmin GPS shares the constant downfalls.)Bottomline: Great for mapping out a send; just be guaranteed of the drive-ability of the roads it could take you on.

Water supply, I did it again. In a moment of weakness, I bought DeLorme Street Atlas USA 2010 Clear, having sworn by no means to buy a version of this manufactured goods again. It is just as bad as ever. The GUI is strictly marble age, feeling like something out of the DOS era. The first time you use the Help file - which you will definitely need - you should be connected to the internet. (As an up your sheath, you cannot install the curriculum lacking first filling in a rather detailed registration shape.) Then you be inflicted including to download a PDF file. Why not just install it to begin including? Nothing is intuitive including DeLorme Street Atlas USA 2010 Clear. I've used before versions, so I am familiar including the boundary, but I doubt that a new user would feel comfortable, especially if they are accustomed to using a curriculum like Microsoft Streets & Trips or a standalone GPS or online maps. The cartography - that is the appearance of the maps - is also archaic. Hurl presentation is awkward to view in that the color of the hurl does not be inflicted including high magnet a distinction including the background. Planning a hurl is cumbersome. Reviewing the curve by curve directions is trying. To their credit, the DeLorme Points Of Wellbeing look to be reasonably up to date. I was also able to find addresses in Street Atlas that I may possibly not locate in the newest Streets & Trips, so points for that as water supply. The phone data is handy. But it doesn't bring about all that water supply. For model, I looked up a fast food restaurant. I first had to click on the restaurant place I wanted tomove it to a further window everywhere I may possibly then double-click it to find it on the map. Water supply, in this fastidious justification, the restaurant is not built-in in the DeLorme Points Of Interest file. I bought this as section of a wrap including a DeLorme Bluetooth GPS. The GPS doesn't bring about so I am not able to review it at this time. Overall, I am not pleased. I be inflicted including not been pleased including DeLorme Street Atlas USA for a lingering time. I gave into an impulse and regret it. I will be calling for an RMA in the morning.Jerry
